My cello has been restored and returned to me. He’s done a fantastic job: all cracks repaired, including some not included in the original quote; chipped bits at the edge smoothed off; the whole thing polished up. With the replaned fingerboard it’s much easier to play, and with the new bridge, soundpost and strings it sounds wonderful!
I’ve managed to get together with a group of other people to play chamber music at a house just up the road. We’re playing the Brahms sextets, plus other things for fewer instruments on the days whe not everybody turns up. I haven’t played the Brahms in years, so it’s a bit of a scramble, but good fun!
