Thailand Animals

Most of these pictures were taken at the Elephant Nature Park near Chiang Mai, where we spent a day watching the elephants. We got to help feed and bathe them as well as pet them. They are very gentle and good-natured, and looked after well by their mahouts and the volunteers and other staff at the park.

We also went to the zoo in Chiang Mai, hence the zoo photos. The butterfly was in a butterfly garden on Ko Samui, but we saw almost as many, and as pretty, butterflies wild in the jungle.

Robin has a new friend!	Adult elephants are very soft.	The two baby elephants and family are just bathed by their keepers.
Baby elephants are hard and spiky. The woman in the hat is Lek, who founded the park, and the elephants trust her as part of the family.		Chiang Mai Zoo. We have no idea why....
We're not quite sure what the hippo thought of Rhiannon, but it definitely thought something.	Though this giraffe didn't seem to think much of Robin.	Apparently the giraffes have their own loo.
A very patient butterfly, which enjoyed sitting for its portrait.	This lizard was spotted in the jungle of Ko Samui.
