We were both feeling a lot better this weekend, and got out into the garden. Now I’m feeling very stiff after all that weeding.
Sadly, despite the net, the pigeons have got at the brassicae. It looks like they landed on it and forced it to the ground and then pecked through it. (See all that bare earth? A lot of it was cabbages, broccoli and Brussels sprouts up until Friday.)
I’ve re-netted it with more and taller sticks, and given the poor things lots of chicken manure to help them recover.
The broad beans are doing wonderfully:
and the purple peas are very pretty:
The runner beans are a little behind, but I’m sure they’ll catch up soon.
Now I need to start thinking about getting back to my dissertation, which I haven’t touched in months.
